CARLA JERNIGAN-BAKER | Principal
Carla Jernigan-Baker is a graduate of North Carolina State University with degrees in Mathematics Education and School Administration. She has 30 years of experience as an educator in the Wake County Public School System. Mrs. Jernigan-Baker began her career as a math teacher at Ligon Middle School where she taught for 4 years before moving to Wake Forest-Rolesville High School. She spent 10 years at WFRHS teaching math and coaching several athletic teams. Mrs. Jernigan-Baker left WFRHS to become an assistant principal at Green Hope High School. She has served as the principal of Reedy Creek Middle School and Knightdale High School.
MARGARET FELDMAN| Assistant Principal
Margaret Feldman is a graduate of the West Virginia University with a degree in
journalism, Marymount University with a Masters in Education, and
Western Carolina University with a Masters in School Administration. She has 21 years of experience as an educator. Mrs. Feldman has worked in Washington DC and Virginia prior to beginning her career in the Wake County Public School System. Prior to working at WYWLA, Mrs. Feldman worked at Salem Middle School. She is currently an instructor at North Carolina State University.
ANTONIA JOHNSON| Assistant Principal
Antonia Johnson is a graduate of the University of North Carolina
at Wilmington with a Bachelor’s Degree in Secondary English and a Master’s
Degree in School Administration. She is currently an Educational
Leadership doctoral candidate at UNC-Wilmington. Ms. Johnson
brings twenty-three years of experience in education to Wake Young Women’s
Leadership Academy having begun her career at New Hanover County and Brunswick
County Schools as a teacher and assistant principal respectively. Additionally, she has served as an educational consultant with the
NC Department of Public Instruction and held various leadership roles including
federal programs director in other educational organizations and school
districts in North Carolina.
