School Bus Transportation - Outstanding Employees
The Wake County Public School System's transportation department consists of 793 drivers, 51 mechanics, 19 managers, 37 operations team leaders and 10 administrative staff members who all work together to provide students with safe, efficient and reliable transportation service that contributes to their overall academic success.
Each and every employee in the transportation department plays a critical role in the smooth and efficient operation of the system's school bus service.
Each year, the school system recognizes its top bus drivers during the annual Bus Drivers Awards Banquet, held in May. Bus drivers from each district are recognized during the banquet as the school system's Outstanding School Bus Drivers for that school year.
Criteria used in selecting the bus drivers recognized during the banquet include no at-fault accidents and safety record, good attendance with minimal absences, job performance, extraordinary acts and/or heroism
The Director's Humanitarian Award and the Superintendent's Safe Driving Award, along with several other awards, are also presented during the banquet.
