Rising 6th Grade Orientation

On Friday, July 7, HGMS will host a new event for rising 6th grade students called “Bulldog Training Camp.”  This will be a half day orientation, in which 6th grade students will come to school, get their schedules, meet with teachers and have a chance to locate all of their classrooms.  In addition, we will be reviewing dress code, transitions between classes and other pertinent information.

In the past, all students have been able to come to school on a specific afternoon of our transition week to pick up their schedules.  However, this year, our 6th grade orientation will be the only opportunity for rising 6th graders on Tracks 1, 2 3 and 4.  There will not be another event held at a later date for Track 4 students, which is different from previous years.  Our hope is that this half day event will help to ease anxiety for the first day of school, as the 6th graders will be the only students in the building on this day.  If your child is unable to attend this camp, please do not worry.  Staff and student mentors will be readily available on the first day of school to make sure that those students receive their schedule and know where they are going.

Please use the link located below to RSVP your child for the event.  The Google form will also give you an opportunity to let us know how many parents will be able to attend the Information Session with Guidance Counselors and the 6th grade Assistant Principal from 11:00-12:00.  Parents will need to register their student(s) by June 30, 2017.  We are providing snacks/water during a portion of the event, so registration numbers will help for planning purposes.

This event is for students from 8:00-12:00.  A separate meeting with parents, the HGMS counselors and the 6th grade Assistant Principal will take place between 11:00-12:00 in the gym.  From 12:00-12:45, parents will have an opportunity to sign up for PTSA, get answers regarding transportation and lunch accounts, as well as purchase PE uniforms and HGMS Spirit Wear.

Should you have any questions regarding the event, please email the 6th grade Assistant Principal, Natalie Price, at
