Pop Tab Competition

Pop Top Competition Winner!

April 27, 2017

Congratulations to the Hawks team for wrapping up the pop tab collection in first place! The Hawks collected about 24 pounds of pop tabs. The Eagles (18 pounds), Falcons (15.4 pounds), and Orcas (13.3) rounded out the top four. Sharks were 5th with 7.1 pounds.

As an entire school we collected around 107,000 pop tabs throughout the month, which equates to about 85 pounds! According to my contact, this will help to host two families at the Ronald McDonald House for a full week.

I'm so proud of the DDMS community for this endeavor!

Start collecting the pop tabs now! Return them to your team leader. Every Friday during the month of April, tabs will be collected and tallied.

The winning team will get a surprise!

Why do you only collect the tabs from cans?

Although the whole aluminum can is valuable, the tab is cleaner and smaller, making it easier to collect in large quantities than whole cans. The tab of a standard soda can is made of high quality, high-grade aluminum. By itself, it doesn’t mean much, but when you pull together, pop-tabs add up and become a valuable donation.
