Single Subject Acceleration (SSA) in the Wake County Public School System (WCPSS) is a practice through which students meeting qualifying criteria in grades K‐7 can take advanced academic content in Mathematics or English/Language Arts (ELA) for the purpose of providing access to appropriately challenging learning opportunities. SSA is an accelerative practice that allows students to show mastery of content of an elementary or middle school course without having taken the course. During specified nomination windows, parents could nominate his/her child to skip a grade level of content in either Language Arts OR Mathematics.
Parents interested in learning more about SSA should visit http://wakeacceleration.weebly.com.
This site also houses the required SSA nomination form. If you are interested in nominating your child for SSA, you must return your completed SSA nomination form within your track's nomination window. No SSA nomination forms will be accepted prior to opening of your track's nomination window and no nomination forms will be accepted after 4:00pm on the last day of your track's nomination window.
