I am honored and humbled that I have been selected as Teacher of the Year at Holly Springs Elementary. This is my 11th year of teaching kindergarten. I earned my teaching degree at Bridgewater State University in Massachusetts. My career began at Parkside Christian Academy in Boston, Massachusetts as a kindergarten teacher. In 1986, I married my college sweetheart and left the profession to start a family. Child development has always been my passion so after raising my children I headed back to the classroom. I began my North Carolina teaching career in Union County, NC and then moved to Wake County, NC. I was hired at Holly Springs Elementary in July 2013 as a kindergarten teacher. I am blessed to be part of a school where professional growth and collaboration are fostered. My colleagues truly challenge me to be my best.
As a kindergarten teacher, I have the opportunity to provide younger students with the academic and personal skills needed to reach their future goals. I believe that a foundation, where the love of learning is fostered and an “I Can” attitude is cultivated, will prove invaluable as students move through their educational journey.
Currently, I live in Holly Springs with my husband, Rod, and my two daughters, Jennifer and Courtney. My son, Michael, resides in Boston, MA: we just can’t get him away from Red Sox nation. When I’m not at school, I enjoy cooking, searching for teaching ideas on Pinterest and Teachers Pay Teachers and spending time outdoors. I am extremely grateful for the many blessings in my life including a fabulous family and a job that allows me to spend my days with little ones, exploring the wonders of the world.
