Fuller 4th graders delighted in getting an up-close tour of a satellite news truck on Science Enrichment Day. 15up Media, based in Raleigh, brought its truck to the Fuller parking lot. Owner Jason Rogers explained how it worked, then let students fire up the generator, rotate the dish and search for satellites in space. Our students were able to pinpoint tiny transponders 22,000 feet above the equator. Rogers has linked up satellite trucks for news organizations to cover a wide range of broadcasts: from 9/11 aftermath in New York City to hurricanes to Duke/Carolina basketball and most recently the NFC championship game in Charlotte.
