Jenna was surprised today at Hilburn Academy with the announcement that she is the 2016 Wake County Public School System's School Counselor of the Year.
Jenna Warren from Hilburn Academy is the 2016 Wake County Public School System's School Counselor of the Year.
“This school counselor invests herself wholeheartedly in ensuring she runs a proactive and preventative school counseling program, said Hilburn Academy's principal, Katherine White. "She is knowledgeable, committed, and demonstrates an obvious love for her work. She is a thoughtful and motivated school counselor who loves to learn and grow and who continually partners with teachers to support and challenge students."
Warren has been at Hilburn Academy for two years. The American School Counselor Association (ASCA) gave her school counseling team the National Model RAMP Award this school year. RAMP stands for Recognized as a Model Program for School Counseling. This award recognizes the implementation and effectiveness of their data-driven comprehensive school counseling program.
Warren uses school wide data coupled with data from various stakeholders to ensure her team accurately identifies school needs. She uses that information to develop and implement Hilburn’s Comprehensive School Counseling Program.
“I strongly believe that a key piece to an effective program lies in your ability to regularly evaluate your program to continuously improve it to see the greatest results among your students and families”, said Warren.
As the WCPSS nominee, she will go on to compete at the for NC School Counselor of the Year. That award will be announced at the North Carolina School Counselor Association's annual conference in Greensboro in November.
