Friday, March 24th

I hope you had a wonderful break and took time to rest, rejuvenate and enjoy time with family and friends.

It is hard to believe but we are starting the 4th quarter of the school year. Report cards were sent home on the last day of the quarter. Students who were not in school on that Tuesday can pick up their report cards on Monday. We will also have copies of 4th quarter schedules to be distributed during 1st period tomorrow. Staff will be available in the lobby for to let students who have a quarter long elective 1st period know who their new 1st period teacher is.

Congratulations to Lindsey Lopez. Lindsey competed in the Wake County Spelling Bee on March 18 and placed 3rd out of nearly 100 spellers. We are all very proud of Lindsay’s accomplishment and are thrilled about how she represented The Square.

Spring pictures will be distributed on Monday to all those who purchased pictures. Eight grade class pictures will also be distributed to students on Monday.

Our first week back will be busy. Ms. Henderson is holding tutoring for all students in math 7+ on Monday in her classroom from 2:20 – 4pm. The 7th and 8th grade coding club also meets on Monday in Ms.Walter’s room at 2:30. Intramural basketball meets on Tuesday. Intramural soccer and the Garden Club meets on Wednesday. Ms. Henderson is holding tutoring for all students enrolled in Math 1 on Thursday in her classroom from 2:20 – 4pm. The Ligon/Moore Square soccer team travels to Martin on Monday for the game rescheduled from March 15th. Softball will host Carnage on Monday. The boys’ and girls’ track teams will compete against East Garner and Dillard Drive on Tuesday. The meet will be at Dillard. Boys’ soccer is in action again on Wednesday, hosting North Garner. Softball hosts Carroll on Thursday. All athletic events begin at 4pm.

The 7th grade will be traveling to Wilmington on Tuesday to tour the USS North Carolina, explore Fort Fisher and the North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher. Students attending the trip are reminded to be at school by 5:15am as our goal is to leave by 5:30. We should return by 7pm. Students are encouraged to see Ms. Dawson if they have any least minute questions.
