Monday, Feb 6th

We hope that everyone who came out to our 1st Friday event last week enjoyed themselves. It is always wonderful to see the talents of our students on display. We will have our final 1st Friday event of the year on May 5th. Congratulations to the Science Olympiad team and to Mr. Hunter for an impressive showing this weekend. Carter Hinds and Aiden Bowen medaled in Astronomy. Mireya De Los Reyes and Lily Cassidy medaled in Ecology and Arron jones and Nicholas Meloma placed 3rd in Hovercraft and will go on to the state competition.

From Dr. Jordan: This week is School Counselor's Week. We are so lucky to have Mrs. Estes and Mrs. DePinto at Moore Square. From PBIS to Intervention to National Junior Honor Society to Lioness Club to attending extra-curricular activities in support of our kids... these wonderful counselors do so much to make our school AMAZING! Please help us recognize them this week by sending in flowers on Friday. Each counselor will receive a vase on Friday morning and we are asking your help in filling their vases with assorted flowers. These can be flowers from Harris Teeter, your yard, you name it. Bring in 1, 3 or 12, it's up to you. We will ask students to deliver them to the counselors as they arrive on Friday morning. This is a tradition carried over from last year and our counselors were very touched. Students may also feel free to write a note to their counselors to let them know how much they are appreciated.

The 7th grade team is reminding all 7th graders of our field trip on March 13th. Students attending the field trip are required to make at least a 20 deposit by Friday so we can provide our final head count to the company helping us plan the trip.

All students will come home on Tuesday with a flier about spring pictures. We will take spring pictures on Friday, February 24th. Spring pictures are a pre-pay event. We will send the order forms home at the end of the week.

Spring sports tryouts are right around the corner. All 7th and 8th graders wanting to try out for boys or girls track and field, boys soccer or girls softball are required to have a current physical on file. Please see Mr. Scheck if you have any questions.

The Quiddich club and intramural basketball will be after school tomorrow. Intramural lacrosse will be after school on Wednesday and the National Junior Honor Society will meet during lunch on Thursday.

The Ligon/Moore Square basketball teams will play their final game of the season tonight against Carnage Middle School will be at Southeast Raleigh High tonight starting at 5pm.

And finally, Friday will be our last early release for the school year. We will end the school day at 11:45.
