As you know, we are on Spring Break next week which means the school and office will be closed.
Here is some information and reminders for tonight and the week we return:
Report Cards Coming Home Today!
School Messenger System:
As you know, the county is transitioning to offering email and text options for parents to receive general school information. I am going to continue to provide general information via all three platforms (voice message, email and text) to close out the school year. Many of you have already completed the step in the School Messenger system to indicate your preferences, but if not, you can contact our Student Services office for another copy of hte letter that went home with students a few weeks ago. Also, please know that in the event of an emergency (such as a weather announcement or other urgent message) a phone call will go out to all families, regardless of what you indicated as your preference in the system.
Registration for 2017-2018:
Hopefully all 6th and 7th graders have completed the registration process for 2017-2018 as the window closed today.
We had a few questions, so for everyone’s benefit please know:
* Students who have participated in auditions or applications for certain classes over the last few weeks will have their registration information updated once the list of qualified or selected students is posted.
* Also, some of our audition/application classes will not take place until later in the year or early next year. Some of these courses include: Student Council, Science Olympiad, Mathcounts, and Martin Ambassadors. As these courses become available we will be pushing information out via school news, my voicemails and Martin twitter so please do not worry.
Coming up after break:
Softball Tuesday, April 18th at Home vs. Ligon and Thursday, April 20th away at N. Garner.
Boys Soccer Game Wednesday, April 19th home vs. Carnage.
Counseling & Student Services:
Martin’s Counseling and Student Services Department will be offering a parent session on Tuesday, April 25th on “Keeping Teenagers Emotionally and Physically Safe in Today’s World”. This Parent workshop will be at 7:40 am in the Media Center.
Dress Code Reminder:
We strongly encourage you to revisit your student’s spring and summer wardrobe over the break. The weather is getting warmer and we are starting to see more and more shorts. Be reminded that the dress code for Wake County is enforced at Martin. Quick Tip: Make sure that shorts come to the tips of the thumbs. Students grow so much over the course of the year that often their clothes fit differently from fall to spring. Please help us by checking outfits before school as students whose clothes do not meet the dress code will be asked to call home for different clothes and/or change.
That concludes my message for the week. I hope you all have a wonderful Spring Break!
