Good evening Martin Middle School families, this is your Principal, Lacey Peckham.
I hope you had a good weekend and are ready for another full week as we finish January and start February.
Coming up this week:
First, our new 8th grade Assistant Principal, Mr. Xavier King will be starting on Monday. Look for him out and about this week and feel free to welcome him and introduce yourself.
In Athletics, our boys and girls basketball teams will be playing at North Garner MS Monday away and then play home against Carnage on Thursday. Games begin at 4:00.
Report cards for Quarter 2 will be going home on Friday, so plan to check book-bags that afternoon and hopefully there will be lots to celebrate.
Also, Friday night will be our second school dance. The dance begins at 7:00 and ends promptly at 9:00. A reminder that any students who have been out of school suspended since the first school dance in September are ineligible. Please check with your grade level AP if you have any questions. The cost of the dance is $5 and there will be soda for sale by our PTA. Please remember that drop off will be at the normal carpool area, but pick-up will vary depending on your student’s grade level. 6th graders will be picked up in the bus loading area and 7th and 8th in carpool. We strongly advise all parents to be patient and go through the appropriate carpool fully as it will be dark and is much easier and safer for our staff to keep their eyes on the students if they are all staying put in the waiting area.
Finally, I want to put in an early plug that Monday, February 6th will be the next PTA meeting. It will convene at 7:00 in the media center and welcome all parents who want to review fall activities, discuss the upcoming Mustang Madness event, and hear information about the registration process for high school. I will have more specifics in next week’s voicemail, but wanted you to be able to get it on your calendars now.
This concludes my voicemail for this week. 3rd quarter is already off to a great start! See you bright and early tomorrow.
