Stand Up! Speak Out! Against Bullying
Bullying won't fly here. And we want everyone to know it.
October is National Bullying Prevention Month, and the WCPSS Counseling and Student Services team has many great activities and information for parents and students.
October is National Bullying Prevention Month, and the WCPSS Counseling and Student Services team has many great activities and information for parents and students.
The goal: to empower young people to stand up and speak out against bullying.
That’s why the Student Support Services team has reached out to schools in the following ways, among many:
- “Blue Shirt Day,” an awareness effort that was held on Oct. 5 (World Day of Bullying Prevention) and “Orange Shirt Day,” to be held on Oct. 21 (Unity Day of Bullying Prevention);
- Tips for parents and students to report and stop bullying, and to recognize warning signs;
- Bully Prevention tip sheets for schools to display and disseminate;
- A Safe Schools Tip Line / http://webarchive.wcpss.net/students/tip-line.html.
- A Bullying Prevention Video Contest for students that kicks off on Oct. 26 (Deadline is Feb. 5, 2016). First, second and third place winners will be recognized from each grade level (elementary, middle and high). First-place winners will be invited to present their videos at a future WCPSS Board of Education meeting.
