TCE Music Sharing Time:
It's Music Sharing Time! Your student is invited to share their musical gift with their classmates and me! Your child will share during their music special time. If your student plays the piano or guitar, they are welcome to use our instruments at school. If your child would like to bring their own instrument to school, they must request permission from their classroom teacher. They will be responsible for the care and use of their instrument. Parents I have extended our music sharing moments for the next several weeks. I do not want to miss one marvelous musical moment!

Frogapalooza - April 22nd, 4:00-7:00 PM

All TCE children K-5 will be performing in our musical "A New Day" for our Frogapalooza Extravaganza. Our musical presentation will begin at 4:15 pm in the multipurpose room. Please plan on staying and enjoying the entire day of festivities. Our musical finale will be presented at the end of the evening. Please stay "tuned in" for more specific details located on our Music Class Webpage.

Musical Dress Attire for all K-5 Students: Your child is welcome to wear clothing from their country, their ancestor’s county or any country they would like. Parents, this does not include costumes, only authentic wear from any country. Thank you for your participation.

Congratulations! Bravo!
Our Turner Creek Elementary Concert Chorus performed in the Raleigh Fine Arts Society’s Elementary Choral Celebration March 29th. After many hours of rehearsal and preparation they took the stage at the Duke Energy Performing Arts Center Meymandi Concert Hall Wednesday evening with panache! They confidently sang with zest and heart! So proud of each and every one of these young ladies and gentleman. What an amazing evening!

All County Honors Chorus
Congratulations to Sarah Calcagno, Jillian Hamm, Makenzie Willhite and Chloe Yuastella. These ladies were selected for the Wake County Schools All County Honors Chorus. After many long hours of individual rehearsal of extremely difficult musical selections, they joined 136 students across Wake County for a Friday evening rehearsal, Saturday afternoon rehearsal and Saturday evening performance. So proud of these diligent and dedicated ladies!

 

Parents of TCE:

We have received a most gracious gift of an upright piano. I will need someone to move this piano from a Raleigh address to our school. Our donor would very much appreciate this piano being moved as soon as possible… And, I would appreciate having this instrument for our Frogapalooza Celebration. If you can assist with this project please email me at mmichael@wcpss.net. Thank you so for very much for supporting our children in the arts!

Parent Volunteers Needed!

Frogapalooza can’t be successful without our wonderful parent volunteers! Please consider signing up to help at the Auction/Raffle, ArtoMe, International Games, Tree Frog Café or Teacher Time Raffle. Even 30 minutes would be a great help!

 

Let the Bidding Begin

This year we are trying something new! We’ll be offering a few items from our Silent Auction for online bidding. That way folks who aren’t able to attend Frogapalooza can still join in the fun! Online bidding will begin April 18th. Items will be available to preview in advance. Go to BiddingOwl to register!

Thank you to everyone who donated items for our World Workshop! We couldn’t have an event such as Frogapalooza without your contributions!

 

Art Show at Cary Towne Center

Tuner Creek will be represented in the WCPSS sponsored art show at Cary Towne Center Mall from Tuesday, April 4th-Sunday, April 16th. 80+ of our young artist's talents will be show cased. School Supplies

The PTA is once again offering a pre-packaged school supply kit for the upcoming school year. The SchoolKidz supply box comes with the teacher-approved school supplies that your student needs and includes trusted brand names like Crayola. Your supply box will also include all the teacher required items that can only be purchased through the PTA, such as the Agenda ($3.50 value) Grades 3-5 and the Word Dictionary ($3.00 value) required for Grade 1 and a Magazine subscription required by all grades. Order forms will be going home next week for tracks 2, 3, 4 and the following week for track 1. If you are unsure whether or not your child will be attending Turner Creek next year, DO NOT pre-order your supplies. Refunds are not available.

Calling All Parents…

The PTA has some open chair positions for the upcoming 2017-18 school year. Please consider chairing (even with a friend) one of these positions with the PTA. The current chairs will be happy to help train you and pass along all information needed for these positions. Without YOUR help, we will not be able to do it all!

Position: Boosterthon Chair
This job is most convenient for a track 1 or 2 parent since the duration of Boosterthon is while those tracks are in session.

Position: Teacher Luncheon Chair
Looking for a way to show how much we love and appreciate our teachers? The teacher luncheon chairperson organizes lunches for all of TCE staff on every early release day and one staff in-service day in July. The chairperson plans a total of 7 lunches and 2 snacks throughout the year. The position requires working with local restaurants to ask for donations and/or discounts. The chairperson will also create a signup genius to ask TCE parents to donate much of the food and paper goods. There is also a budget given by the PTA. On the day of the lunch or snack, the chairperson sets up all the food, stays to help serve, and cleans up at the end of lunch. On the actual early release day, the time required is from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. In addition, the preparation time required for each early release lunch is about 3 hours. This is a wonderful position that is very much appreciated by all teachers and staff.

This job starts in July, but the bulk of activities happen in October. The time commitment is around 5-10 hours per week in October and approximately 1-2 hours per week in July, August, September and November. There is no work that extends beyond mid-November. The position requires someone who can be flexible with his or her schedule. Most of the work done in October is on campus. The work in July-September can be done from home at your convenience.

Position: Spirit Night Chair
This position is good for all tracks. There is minimal school onsite worked needed. We target approximately 3 spirit nights a year in order to raise money for the PTA. We usually have our first spirit night in August as a welcome to all the new Turner Creek parents. The other 2 spirit nights need to be coordinated with the PTA calendar. Approximate months are usually Oct. and Feb./Mar.

Communication Update

Starting this month, our school will begin sharing general information via text messaging and email instead of an automated phone call. You’ll still receive automated phone calls from us, but we’ll reserve them for urgent situations.

In short, any reminders about school events will only go out via text or email. The only phone messages that go out will be for urgent issues. We will still send our Ribbit Report via email if we have your email address on file.

If you did not receive the text message on Monday, March 27 you can simply text YES to the number 67587 to be added to the text messaging list.
