Mrs. Marion Evans

Born and raised in Raleigh, Marion Evans grew up on a farm in what is now North Raleigh. Mrs. Evans is one of nine children, including two sets of twins, in her family. She and her twin sister, Miriam, are the youngest of her siblings. After attending Jeffreys Grove and Green Elementary Schools, Mrs. Evans attended Carroll and Ligon Middle Schools.

Her ties to her family kept her close to Raleigh and upon graduation from Sanderson High School, she entered North Carolina Central University, where she received her Bachelor’s degree in education, with a K-6 certification. She continued her education and was awarded her Master’s degree in Education Administration. Mrs. Evans is married to Donald Evans and they have a son Frank, who lives in Matthews, NC.

Mrs. Evans’ first job was with the NC Department of Transportation. She worked as a Personnel Assistant in the Human Resource Department for four and a half years. Always knowing she wanted to be in Education Administration, Mrs. Evans obtained her first teaching job at Frances Lacy Elementary in west Raleigh, teaching second grade. She taught second grade for three years and gained tenure status. She then moved to first grade for five years and was offered the position as Assistant Principal at Lacy, after completing eight years in the classroom. Mrs. Evans served as Lacy’s Assistant Principal for five years, before transferring to Zebulon Elementary, as Assistant Principal. The move to Zebulon Elementary gave her a wonderful opportunity to diversify her background in the academic and administrative areas.

After her fourth year as Assistant Principal, she became principal of Zebulon Elementary in March of 2002 and remained in that position until named Principal of Beaverdam Elementary in November of 2015.

Mrs. Evans is excited about building a new school community. She looks forward to working with the students and parents at Beaverdam Elementary this upcoming 2016-2017 school year!
