Wake Kids for Katrina: Find out how much money our students and staff raised through the school system’s fund-raising campaign to aid victims of Hurricane Katrina.

WCPSS Welcomes Louisiana Teachers: In addition to raising money to assist the victims of Hurricane Katrina, the Wake County Public School System also assisted several teachers who relocated to Wake County from the Gulf Coast states by providing them with much needed jobs.

Quality Matters 2005: As the school systems continues to grow by 5-6,000 students per year, finding the resources to provide students with the high quality education they deserve is becoming a much larger challenge in Wake County. The Wake Education Partnership recently took an in-depth look at this issue and published their findings in a report called Quality Matters.

Pet Therapy: A German Shepherd at Lacy Elementary School is helping first-grade students improve their reading skills.

AVID: A new program implemented in our middle schools is providing students with the skills and the encouragement that they need to be successful in school and take the rigorous courses needed to attend college.

Chinese Visitors: A group of visitors from China recently visited East Wake High School to learn more about the school and to explore the possibility of setting up an exchange program.
