Xtreme Beginnings Planning - Roundtable Discussions
In charge: Diane Cadavid, Donna Donovan, Amy Schroeder, Susan Tyson, Barbara Wiggins
Before the Event
- Determine roundtables needed (more than 60)
- Recruit two career models for each roundtable
- Each CDC recruits two roundtable career models
- RT Recruitment Letter (Word 344 KB)
- Point volunteers to the website
- Make photocopies of their handouts if needed
- Assign CDCs to monitor 2-3 adjacent tables
- Send confirmation e-mail to the volunteers.
- Send talking-points letter
- Contact volunteers the day before to verify their attendance.
- Create a printed schedule for each career model showing table assignments, session times, break time.
- Assign students to tables after number of speakers have been confirmed (is this possible?)
Room Preparation
- Coordinate table and chair setup/placement
- We are using 66 of the 100 tables. Sread out the RT tables as much as possible.
- Table decorations
Orientation Session
- Gather all Roundtable participants from both rooms into room ??. (not interview or holding room)
- Orientation session can start as early as 9:15, and must be over by 9:40. (Leave time for them to get ready before the student stampede.)
- Explain what Xtreme Beginnings is and how this room fits into the big picture.
- Tell participants what to expect from the students
- Tell career-oriented roundtable presenters to use the information in the back of the NC Career Outlook Handbook for information about careers in their pathway.
- Many of the career-oriented roundtables are subsets of the 11 NC career pathways.
- There may be as many as ten students at the table. Borrow chairs from unused tables.
- Point out assessment sheet in folder and describe turn in procedure at the end of the day.
- Provide presenters with a schedule of their presentation/break times - Chris
- Directions to the Hospitality room
- Assign chaperones
- DOC Understanding (what is this?)
During Event
After Event
- Clean up
- Thank participants with thank-you note
- Send assessments to Assessment Team
