Xtreme Beginnings Planning - Higher Education Fair

Prior to the event
- Recruit businesses to display
- Review list of past participants and invite them
- Secure representatives from Community Colleges, Trade Schools, and 4-year Colleges/Universities to display specific career-oriented activities and materials about their programs
- Include historically black college/university (HBCU)
- Focus on Emerging Careers
- Include military recruiters (move to Employment Fair or Outside Displays ??)
- Encourage interactive displays and demonstrations
- Gather table, chair, electricity needs
- Tell participants to bring their own power strip and extension cord
- Send recruitment letter (Word)
- Send "thank you for volunteering" letter
- Contact the day before to verify attendance
Room Preparation
- We should have space for 45 8-foot tables
- Arrange tables and chairs
- Assign tables
- Assist representatives in setting up
Orientation Session
- Gather all Higher Education Fair participants together for an orientation session.
- Orientation session can start as early as 9:15, and must be over by 9:40. (Leave time for educators to get ready before the student stampede.)
- Explain what Xtreme Beginnings is and how this room fits into the big picture.
- Tell participants what to expect from the students
- Point out assessment sheet in folder and describe turn in procedure at the end of the day.
During Event
- Water for all -
- Distribute and collect assessment from participants
After Event
- Clean up
- Thank participants
- Send assessments to Assessment Team
