Room Preparation
- Three rooms for practice job interviews. One additional room to hold the waiting students.
- 88 5-foot tables for interviews spread between the three rooms - McKimmon
- Each table has two chairs - McKimmon
- Setup tables and chairs - McKimmon
- Recruit 40 people to conduct the interviews - Joy
- Recruit 40 people to conduct the interviews (two per CDC). Send contact info to Sharon - all CDCs
- Priority will be given to juniors and seniors when scheduling interviews
- Red/green signs put on each table - Sharon
- 100 sheets of card stock to create table tent for each interviewer - Sharon
- Markers to write name on table tent - Sharon
- Evaluation Rating Sheets for each interviewer - Chris prints
- Number of students interviewing from each school to Sharon. - Chris
- Folder for each school to collect interview rating sheets - Chris
- Each grade level will be assigned a unique practice job interview room?
- Add to student folder a list of sample questions to help students prepare for asking questions during the interview.
- Pencils/pens and pads for each interviewer
Orientation Session
- Gather all job interviewers into room 3.
- Orientation session can start as early as 9:15, and must be over by 9:40. (Leave time for interviewers to get ready before the student stampede.)
- Explain what Xtreme Beginnings is and how this room fits into the big picture.
- Explain the role of the interviewer.
- Tell participants what to expect from the students
- Explain the scoring process (50 being the lowest score and 99 the highest).
- Tell interviewers how to score students with/without resumes -
- Distribute interview rating sheets to all interviewers.
- Explain the length of time allowed for each interview, and how to signal readiness to interview.
- Distribute name tents
During Event
- Water in each interview room for the interviewers.
- Each student will have 10 minutes for an interview.
- The interviewer's name will be on a table tent facing the student.
- The interviewer will have 3-5 minutes after each interview to complete an evaluation.
- All students must have a resume and be dressed in proper business attire
- Signs (red and green cards) will be provided for the interviewer to indicate when they are ready for the next student -
- Interviewers can take a break when needed by placing a red card on their table.
- A person will be placed at each entrance each interview room.
- A person will serve as a line controller to line up students for interviews.
- A person will be placed in the holding room for students waiting to be interviewed.
- Distribute and collect rating sheets from participants
- Put completed interview rating sheets in school folders
After Event
- Clean up
- Thank participants
- Send assessments to Assessment Team
- Rating sheet folders go to CDCs
