Before the Event
- Contact Department of Labor Apprenticeship Sponsors to determine who is accepting Apprentices and who would like to participate in the Employment Fair. - JobLink
- Find 15 employers for the Employment Fair. - JobLink
- Conduct follow up confirmations for all employers participating in Employment Fair. JobLink
- Serve as liaison with Raleigh Wake Human Resources for Employment Fair. - Janny Flynt
- Recruit one employer that hires high school graduates to participate in the Employment Fair. - All CDCs
- Provide schedule, facilities, layout, employer needs, scheduling, etc - all
- Establish time frame and deadlines. - all
- Ask employers for link to their website, their employment application form
- Students can complete employment applications prior to XB.
Room Preparation
- We should have space for 36 5-foot tables for businesses
- We are using rooms 7 and 8 at the McKimmon Center
- Two 5-foot tables in the middle of each room for students to complete job applications (Do we really need this?)
- Secure representatives from businesses who hire directly out of high school, or hire student interns
- Encourage interactive displays and demonstrations
- Gather their table, chair, A/V, electricity needs
- Tell participants to bring their own power strip and extension cord
- Provide Chris with a list of participants (to be printed separate from booklet)
- Arrange tables and chairs
- Assign tables
- Assist representatives in setting up
Orientation Session
- Gather all Employment Fair participants from both rooms into room 8.
- Orientation session can start as early as 9:15, and must be over by 9:40. (Leave time for employers to get ready before the student stampede.)
- Explain what Extreme Beginnings is and how this room fits into the big picture.
- Tell participants what to expect from the students
- Point out assessment sheet in folder and describe turn in procedure at the end of the day.
During Event
- Water for all -
- Man the JobLink Career Center booth. - JobLink
- Distribute and collect assessment from participants
After Event
- Clean up
- Thank participants
- Send assessments to Assessment Team
