Xtreme Beginnings - April 21, 2006

Xtreme Beginnings is a career exploration event for tenth-, eleventh-, and twelfth-grade students. About 450 students participated this year.

Xtreme Beginnings 2006 was held at One Renaissance Centre on Benson Drive (behind the Hilton North Raleigh) in Raleigh, NC, on Friday, April 21, 2006 from 9:15 AM to 1:00 PM.

Xtreme Beginnings brochure (PDF 472 Kb).
This brochure lists all of the events, and allows students to sign up for the sessions they wish to attend.

Download a copy of the Student Registration form. (Excel 18 Kb) This is the form to list the students that will attend from your school and their round table selections.

Xtreme Career Planning Guide is given to each student who attends Xtreme Beginnings. The guide has information about the roundtable discussions, suggested questions to ask the career models, job interviewing tips, job interview questions, practice job interview rating sheet, job application tips, cover letter tips, JobLink Career Center information, military information, and an Xtreme plan of action to help the student reflect on all that was learned at Xtreme Beginnings.

Xtreme Data

Adult Participants

80 adults from Wake County Public School System worked at Xtreme Beginnings. This includes the CDCs, teacher chaperones, bus drivers, and CTE Central Office Staff.

139 adults from the community volunteered to work at Xtreme Beginnings. This included the HR professionals who conducted the job interviews, the career models who led the roundtable discussions, the representatives from the postsecondary schools, and many who worked behind the scenes making everything work.
