Internship Requirements
- Student must have begun the ninth grade.
- Completion of either 90 hours or 180 hours of work-based experiences
- 90 hours are required for half-course credit
- 180 hours are required for full-course credit
- Create a worksite project that reflects the student intern's goals, interests, and area of career exploration (20% of grade)
- Complete a project plan and return it with the proper signature by the halfway point of your internship.
- Complete your project and discuss it with your certified staff sponsor and your business sponsor within ten days after you complete your internship.
- Keep a journal and turn it in to the certified staff sponsor (mentor teacher) with the proper signatures within ten days after the completion of your internship. (20% of grade)
- Periodic worksite evaluations by the certified staff sponsor and the business sponsor (20% of grade)
- Complete and turn in the internship evaluation. (20% of grade)
- Write thank you notes to your business sponsor and your certified staff sponsor. (5% of grade)
- Present your internship to a group of students as well as your certified staff sponsor, business sponsor, teachers, school administrators, parents/guardian, and any other persons the student may wish to invite. (15% of grade)
Grading
The certified staff sponsor reviews and assigns a grade to each aspect of these requirements, and then computes a final grade. This final grade is given to the Career Development Coordinator who is responsible for having the grade and credit added to the student's permanent record.
The grade and credit are not used in determining the student's GPA calculation.
