CDCs can become Nationally Certified.

CDCs with a counseling background (guidance certification) can get certified in the Human Services area.

CDCs who have CTE certification (and do not have guidance counseling certification) can become Nationally Certified as a CTE Teacher. He/she can borrow classes to fulfill the certification requirements. In order to receive the pay increase, the CDC must be engaged in teaching 70% of their workday. The principal determines the percent teaching time.
