CTE Instructional Management System: Updating The Classroom Itembank
Prior To Installation
- If tests exist in the curriculum:
- Export any tests you might want to reuse.
- Click on the Test tab.
- Select Test|Export tests.
- Select the test you wish to export. Press Export Test.
- Turn on the radio button beside the format in which you plan to reuse tests (probably Windows). Press OK.
- Browse to the folder where you want the test to be saved. Press Save.
- Delete tests.
- Select Classes|Assign and Manage Tests.
- Click on the test you wish to delete. Press Delete.
- When you have deleted all the tests in the curriculum, press Close.
- Export any tests you might want to reuse.
- If teacher-made items exist
- Create a group of the teacher items
- Click on the Development tab.
- Select bank.
- Select Search|New Search.
- Click on the Advanced tab.
- Click on the down arrow beside "Created By" to select Teacher.
- Click on OK.
- Click on Search|Manage Saved Searches. Name the search.
- Export the search group.
- Open Curriculum Tools (Go to Start, Programs, Classroom Manager, and select Curriculum Tools).
- Select File|Extract Curriculum.
- Click on the top down arrow to select a curriculum. Click on the second down arrow to select the search group you created above.
- Type in an eight-character name for the search group (perhaps course number+tchr).
- Press OK.
- Create a group of the teacher items
- Delete curriculum structure (Go to Start, Programs, Classroom Manager, and select Curriculum Tools).
- Open Curriculum Tools.
- Select File|Delete Structure.
- Select the curriculum you wish to delete.
- Press OK.
- Delete unlinked items.
- Open the bank in CMS95. Click on the Development tab.
- Select Development|Manage Unlinked Items.
- With the filter on SYSTEM and the type on TEST ITEMS, click on Delete All. Press OK.
- Change the type to ATTACHMENTS and click on Delete All again. Press OK.
How To Install Itembanks
- Prior to installation:
- Create a temporary folder on your C-drive named Install_banks.
- Prepare bank.
- Open Windows Explorer. Copy the three files for the bank (xxx.blb, xxx.fdb, and xxx.fdi) into the temporary folder. Right click on each file and click on the check beside READ-ONLY to turn off the READ-ONLY status. If there is a check beside ARCHIVE, click on the check to turn the ARCHIVE status off.
- Install bank.
- Open Curriculum Tools.
- Select File|Install Curriculum.
- Browse to the temporary folder you created and click on the curriculum you wish to install. The file name will be the "name of the itembank" with an .fdi extenstion.
- Press Open.
- Press OK.
- Remove unneeded files.
- When installation is complete, open Windows Explorer. Go to the temporary folder and delete the files you copied from the CD.
