High School Grading Procedure

4 By 4 and A/B Block Schedule Schools

In all CTE courses with a VoCATS postassessment, the final exam counts as 20% of the students' final grade. The following uniform process and formula is used to calculate students' grades.

The process and formula for courses on a 4 by 4 schedule is:

1st Quarter Average
+40.0%*
2nd Quarter Average
+40.0%
Comprehensive Final Exam
+20.0%
Final Grade
=100.0%
Final Grade = 0.40(1st Quarter Average) + .040(2nd Quarter Average) + 0.20(Final Exam grade)
(The 3rd and 4th quarter averages will be used to calculate the second semester final grade.)

The process and formula for courses on an A/B schedule is:

1st Semester Average
+40.0%*
2nd Semester Average
+40.0%
Comprehensive Final Exam
+20.0%
Final Grade
=100.0%
Final Grade = 0.40(1st Semester Average) + 0.40(2nd Semester Average) + 0.20(Final Exam grade)

*These averages should include a comprehensive mid-term assessment that should count no more than 10% of the 1st and 3rd quarter averages (4 by 4 schedule) or the 1st semester average (A/B schedule).
