CDC - Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Truck Fairs

Q. What happens if a student gets hurt climbing in or out of the truck?

A. Unless it can be shown/proven that we (WCPSS or individual school) were negligent in allowing students to climb in or out of the trucks, any injury would be the responsibility of the parent/guardian by showing evidence of their insurance or purchased our voluntary student accident insurance. Or, a parent could put a claim against the truck owner since automobile coverage includes loading and unloading. The key would be supervision of the students not allowing horse playing and stressing proper entering and exiting trucks without jumping. (Curtis Grogan, Risk Management Director, 5/3/05)

Q. What happens if a student damages the truck?

A. Any damage to the truck by student while truck is on our premises would have to obtain damage repairs by filing claim with parents homeowner's insurance. In addition keys should not be left in trucks, unless the owner/driver is in the truck's driver's seat. (Curtis Grogan, Risk Management Director, 5/3/05)
