Description

East Wake School of Engineering Systems is one of four smaller learning communities on the East Wake School Complex in Wendell, North Carolina. In order to ensure success for all students, the East Wake School of Engineering Systems INSPIRES self-discovery, INSTILLS knowledge, and INVESTS in the promises of tomorrow. Every member of this learning community is provided a focused and targeted education in a safe and orderly environment while developing positive, meaningful, and respectful relationships. Through relevant experiences, students will become problem solvers and collaborative workers. Faculty and staff members strive for students to evolve into goal-oriented, reflective, and diverse thinkers prepared to navigate the 21st century and well equipped for post-secondary opportunities.

As a member of the WCPSS STEM Collaborative Network, the curriculum has been designed to support academic achievement through extensive and rigorous science, mathematics, and engineering coursework. East Wake School of Engineering Systems is a member of Project Lead the Way, a non-profit organization that provides schools with technology and professional development to introduce students to engineering courses. Every student is required to complete the first two of six distinct Project Lead the Way courses: Introduction to Engineering Design and Principles of Engineering. EWSES also provides a strong Career-Technical Education base within the content areas of construction technology, automotive technology, and agricultural science in order to prepare students for a variety of post-secondary choices. Several Advanced Placement courses are available to students to support this endeavor as well.

The East Wake School of Engineering Systems faculty and staff are dedicated to creating a learning environment where every student is academically successful. Our faculty and staff strive to know student’s families personally and provide strategies that students and parents can utilize within the classroom and at home. During the 2010-2011 school year, EWSES meet Adequate Yearly Progress and achieved high growth for student proficiency.
