Curriculum: Traditional

Traditional curriculum schools offer students high quality instruction, opportunities for advanced studies, creative exploration and extra-curricular activities in a nurturing educational setting. Some of the highest-performing schools in Wake County are traditional curriculum schools.

Description

West Cary Middle School was built in 1965 and renovated in 1995. The renovations included a new 6th Grade wing, new cafeteria, auditorium, media center, and a refurbished gymnasium. West Cary has exploded into technology with two first-rate computer labs for classes to use, a fully networked lab in the Media Center, and all classrooms are equipped with networked computers.

Assistant Principals Jason and Connie Wiggins-Price support Principal Wanza Cole. Mrs. Cole assumes overall responsibility for the school. Ms. Wiggins-Price works with 6th and 7th and Mr. Ramirez supervises the 8th grade.

The current enrollment is over 1,000. These students are broken down into teams per grade level. A lead teacher supervises each team. Students have numerous activities that they can participate in including athletics, student government, and cultural art functions such as band, drama and chorus. After school clubs are also available.
