Description

The Gifted and Talented Program is based on the belief that every child has gifts and talents to be valued and nurtured. This program promotes choice for the student and parent. Children explore a wide variety of larning experiences through core and elective courses that continually develop individual strengths and interests. There are no tests, auditions, or performance standards for acceptance into the Gifted and Talented Program. All students have the opportunity to take elective classes. Students in a GT magnet school take two electives everyday!

Underwood students experience inquiry based investigations with a hands-on approach. Students become stakeholders in their personal journey of learning by taking responsibility for their accomplishments. As students participate in learning activities, they meet individual challenges, but also have time for collaboration with their peers. Teachers encourage discussion, research, goal setting and fun!

Underwood believes in continuous improvement, high expectations, high standards, and quality work. Elective classes reflect many diverse areas of study.
