Description
Poe Montessori is Wake County Public School Systems only Montessori Magnet, currently serving students pre-k through 5th grade.
The program is based on a child's developmental need for freedom within limits. Instructional techniques, in a carefully prepared environment, provide learning experiences designed to develop not only the intelligence of each child but also the child's physical and social skills.
Students are grouped in multi-age, self-contained classes where small group instruction and peer tutoring optimize individual students' learning and social growth.

Take Exit 13A (New Bern Avenue-West) towards downtown. From the Beltline, go 1.8 miles (or 7 lights). Take a left at the seventh light onto King Charles Road. Take the third right onto Norwood Street. Norwood turns into Peyton Street after 1 block. Poe Montessori is on the corner of Poole and Peyton
From I-40 heading east or Outer Beltline (I-440):
Take Exit 300 (Rock Quarry Road). Turn left onto Rock Quarry Road. Rock Quarry Road turns into Raleigh Boulevard. Go 1 mile (or 4 lights) on Rock Quarry/Raleigh Blvd. Turn right onto Martin Luther King Boulevard. Go to the next light and turn left onto Peyton Street. Poe Montessori is .2 mile on the right
