Description

Welcome to Pleasant Union Year-Round Elementary. Our school has the proud reputation for providing its “Purple Panthers” with a well-rounded program that challenges students both to be academically and socially successful. It is our goal for students to develop a love for learning so that they will be prepared for each level of learning. Our mission is to “Make Every Child a Success Story.”
The instructional climate at Pleasant Union is characterized by a safe, nurturing, “whole-child” approach. In addition to academic rigor in the classroom, students are provided a variety of experiences in art, music, technology, media, and cultural arts.

An additional reason that Pleasant Union has a long history of student success is that there is a low amount of staff turnover. This can be tied to the high level of staff satisfaction as demonstrated by the North Carolina Teacher Working Condition Survey. Many staff have National Board Certification and/or advanced instructional degrees. Pleasant Union has a long history of numerous student achievement awards such as School of Excellence, Honor School of Excellence and School of Distinction.

Pleasant Union has a strong number of parent volunteers. The partnership provides daily support for classroom learning centers, individual and small group remediation and enrichment support. Our PTA partners facilitate many fund-raisers to provide supplement monetary support for classroom instructional supplies, cultural arts assemblies, and instructional residencies.
