    Description

    About Olds
Fred A. Olds Elementary School is a North Carolina School of Distinction that serves students in grades Kindergarten through fifth grade. We offer a small, intimate learning environment with a strong Parent Teacher Association and about 300 to 325 students. We are located near the NC State University campus. Our educational program emphasizes innovative, student-centered approaches to learning 21st century foundational skills. We use flexible instructional grouping strategies in our Reading and Mathematics programs in order to meet student learning needs. Our educational program also incorporates project-based learning with an emphasis on quality practices, STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics), and the inclusion of community members and University faculty and students into the school for enhanced student learning experiences. We also are a Positive Behavior Intervention Support (PBIS) school with an emphasis on teaching students appropriate behaviors and habits through modeling, positive reinforcement, and staff support.
