Description

Moore Square Museums Magnet Middle School is founded on the principle that children learn naturally in environments that support guided exploration and discovery, encourage meaningful apprenticeships and projects, and foster interaction among peers and mentors.

Moore Square Museums Magnet opened in the summer of 2002 and has embarked on a dynamic partnership with area meuseums. This unique learning environment allows students to use the museum's collections and exhibitions as a springboard for exploration in all areas of student's curricula.

The curriculum introduces students to the stimulating world of museum environments and the wealth of their culture, history, sciences, technology and arts. The instructional program offers opportunities to learn through interactions wth exhibits and performances. The school uses a myriad of resources in the downtown community including museums, cultural and performing groups, and government offices. Additionally, the staff will use the Paideia approach to teaching, engaging students in the Socratic Seminars and guiding them through coach projects.

The school operates on the modified calendar to facilitate staff planning and student enrichment activities.
