COACHES SERVING AS ATHLETIC DIRECTORS |
3218 |
|
|
The Board of Education believes that
the duties, time requirements, and responsibilities of coaches and athletic
directors are very demanding, and that a coach or athletic director can be a
more effective employee if he/she is not serving in both capacities at the
same time. However, the board
recognizes that this separation of assignments will not always be
possible. The board also believes that
the principal of a school is in the best position to determine who will serve
as coaches and who will serve as athletic director. |

|
3218.1 |
As long as there exists
a shortage of qualified and/or interested teachers who wish to be coaches or
athletic directors, the principal may hire one teacher to serve concurrently
as coach and athletic director. |
||
|
3218.2 |
If one person is chosen by the
principal to serve as both coach and athletic director, that person will
receive extra-duty pay for both assignments in accordance with the extra-duty
implementation guidelines. |
