RECRUITMENT AND SELECTION

It shall be the policy of the Board that a continuous system of recruitment and selection of personnel be maintained in order to assure competent candidates for vacancies as needed.

3020.1

The Wake County Board of Education acknowledges that the most important aspect of attaining excellence in education is the quality of the teaching staff and the administrative staff.  With that in mind, the Board hereby adopts as policy and states its determination to strive for such excellence and further declares its intent to employ only those teachers and administrators who possess and have exhibited excellence in their preparation and performance and who have the potential to contribute to the educational process.

Subjective and objective appraisals of preparation and performance for employment and the needs of the Wake County Public School System shall be considered by the board in making decisions to employ teachers and administrators.

Candidates for employment will be selected on the basis of:

Record of Student Teaching Experience

Record of Experience and Performance

Personal Interview

Vacancies in teaching positions will be filled by the most qualified applicants available and in accordance with equal opportunity employment requirements.  The board shall make positive efforts to employ and advance in employment qualified disabled individuals.
