A.
Purpose |
||
|
It is the
policy of the Wake County Board of Education to ensure that design
consultants are selected in a fair and uniform manner, that those selected
for work are qualified and experienced in designing facilities desired by the
Wake County Board of Education, and to ensure that every qualified design
consultant has the opportunity to be considered for providing professional
services to the Wake County Public School System. |

The Wake
County Board of Education will provide minorities equal opportunity to
participate in all aspects of the school system’s needs for professional
services, including but not limited to participation in procurement contracts
for materials, supplies and equipment, and contracts for the construction,
renovation or repair of school facilities and equipment. |

B. Definitions |
||
|
1.
"Design Consultant" means any individual, firm,
partnership, corporation, association, or other legal entity permitted by law
to practice architecture, engineering, landscape architecture, or surveying
in the State of North Carolina. |
||
|
2.
"Professional Services" means those services
within the scope of the practice of architecture, engineering, landscape
architecture, or surveying as defined by the public laws of |
||
|
3.
“Minority Business Enterprise” means any
individual, firm partnership, corporation, association or legal entity as
defined by MBE criteria in North Carolina General Statute S143-128.2. |
