SCHOOL CAPACITIES

7245

The Wake County Board of Education has established the following terms, calculation methods, sequence and schedule for developing school building capacities and school campus capacities for each school:

7245.1

School Building Capacity (SBC):  The School Building Capacity is calculated for each school using standard, magnet or year-round capacity models for the varying grade levels, student to teacher ratios and supplemental program offerings.  The School Building Capacity for each school may be revised yearly to reflect changes in the facilities, capacity models, student-to-teacher ratios and standards for supplemental program offerings.

7245.2

Annual School Campus Capacity (ASCC):  The Annual School Campus Capacity is calculated for each school by adding the School Building Capacity to the capacity of the mobile units available for instructional purposes and adjusting the total to reflect the actual number of supplemental programs.  The Annual School Campus Capacity for each school may be revised yearly to reflect the actual number of mobile units available for instructional purposes and the actual number of supplemental programs offered.

7245.3

Long-Range School Campus Capacity (LRSCC):  The Long-Range School Campus Capacity is calculated for each school by adding the School Building Capacity to the capacity of the optimum number of instructional mobile units that the site can accommodate and the building(s) can support.

Each year by October 1, the Superintendent or his/her designee will present for board approval, the School Building Capacities, Annual School Campus Capacities and Long-Range School Campus Capacities for that school year.
