Board Policy 7145: Activity Buses

  1. Maintenance of Activity Buses

 

    1. The Transportation Department will provide and cover the cost of preventative maintenance for a maximum of three (3) full size activity buses and two (2) mini- activity buses for high schools and one (1) 1 full size and one (1) mini-activity bus for middle schools.

 

    1. Preventative maintenance includes regularly scheduled oil changes, replacement tires and brakes, and any part replacement that cost $250 or less.

 

    1. The cost for vandalism and major repairs to activity buses will be the responsibility of the schools to which the buses are assigned.

 

  1. Requesting Use of Activity Buses 

 

    1. Buses assigned to a middle or high school:

 

a)   Principals are responsible for regulating the use of activity buses assigned    to schools.

b)   Requests for use should be submitted to the principal or designee at the school that has the activity bus.

 

2.       Buses assigned to the Transportation Department motor pool:

 

a)   The Transportation department will maintain and schedule use of activity buses assigned to the department.

 

b)   The Transportation Department will make arrangements for schools requesting the use of a bus when a bus is available.

 

c)   The school will be billed the same prevailing rate established for field trip reimbursement based on state formula.

 

3.       The form to be used for requesting activity bus use is Form 7145 – “Summer Athletic School Activities and Use of Activity Bus Approval Form”.

 

C.      Summer Use of Activity Buses

 

1.       The provisions of Board Policy 7145 – Activity Buses apply to summer use of activity buses.

 

2.       Students must have written parental permission on file for each trip.

 

3.       A completed form 1733, WCPSS Certification of Accident insurance must be on file for each student, for all non-athletic activities.

 

4.       The Summer Athletic School Activities and Use of Activity Buses Approval Form must be completed and approved by the appropriate coach.  A copy of the form is attached.
