EVALUATION OF PROGRAMS AND SERVICES

The Superintendent may employ expertise from inside and/or outside the system to develop a means for evaluating the programs and services of the system.

5600.1 

All Wake County Public School System central and school-based programs and services are expected to conduct self-evaluations and use the results of the evaluation for continuous improvement efforts.

5600.2 

The Superintendent or designee shall select or develop appropriate tests or other data collection instruments, which will be administered to determine the status and effectiveness of Wake County Public School System programs.  Results will be used to improve the design and/or delivery system of Wake County Public School System programs. 

5600.3

The Superintendent or designee may conduct formal and informal evaluations of programs and give reports of the evaluations to the Board.  All Wake County Public School System staff shall provide evaluators with timely access to data pertaining to relevant system activities, records, and personnel. 

5600.4 

Prior to funding, outside programs and/or agencies requesting funds or positions from Wake County Public School System shall provide a description of planned efforts and an evaluation plan to measure their success.  Evaluation plans shall be reviewed and approved through the assistant superintendent of evaluation and research. If funded, outside programs are responsible for carrying out their self-evaluation and providing a timely annual summary of evaluation results to the Evaluation and Research Department.
