ACCEPTANCE OF HIGH SCHOOL TRANSFER CREDIT

Students transferring into a Wake County Public School System high school from another school, private or public, a home school, or an alternative school may receive credit toward graduation for courses successfully completed in the sending school.  

Students reenrolling in the Wake County Public School System following a long-term suspension, expulsion, or 365-day suspension may receive credit toward graduation for courses successfully completed during the time the student is suspended or expelled from the Wake County Public schools.  If credit is granted, grades will be recorded as “Pass” (P) or “Fail” (F).

Special education student who are properly suspended from school upon a finding that their misbehavior was not a manifestation of their disability, but who are required by Federal law to continue to receive educational services during the period of suspension, may receive credit for courses successfully completed during the period of suspension.  If credit is granted, grades will be recorded as “Pass” (P) or “Fail” (F).

The associate superintendent for instructional services shall develop procedures for implementation of this policy.
