5101                             Curriculum and Assessment Decisions                         5101

 

In order to provide students with equal access to the curriculum, it is necessary to establish a system-wide understanding of where decisions regarding curriculum and assessment lie.

 

5101.1  Centrally-based Decisions

Centrally coordinated decisions will ensure that students across the district and within schools have equal access to the intended curriculum. Central staff is responsible for the design of the curriculum and common assessments, and for facilitating the selection of primary instructional resources.

 

A. Centrally-coordinated decisions include:

1.       the content of curriculum guides

2.       the design of common formative and summative assessments

3.       primary instructional resources

 

 

5101.2  School-based Decisions

School-based staff is responsible for the delivery of the district’s curriculum and common assessments in order that all students are taught and learn the intended curriculum.

A.  School-based decisions include:

1.       the selection of the appropriate research-based instructional strategies

2.       the delivery of common formative and summative assessments

3.       selection of supplementary resources
