Through an online SPAN account, students and parents at most WCPSS high and middle schools have access to electronic records including:
Students in grades 8-11 may also complete their course requests through SPAN.
Parents and students at participating schools have access to even more information including:
Each high school and middle school could offer different SPAN functions, depending on what works best for them.
SPAN is available at span.wcpss.net. Student accounts are distributed at school. Parents may register by filling out one of the access forms below. Please make sure your high or middle school provides SPAN before submitting one. Once the account has been created you will receive an email with instructions. Parents and guardians will be given one account per student. You must submit a separate form for each child.
In order to maintain full compliance with the U.S. Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), all SPAN users are required to access SPAN using their own account.
Student data is not accessible by anyone who does not have the authority to do so as defined by FERPA. Students have access to their own data, and any parent or legal guardian may also request access. If there is a situation where a parent or legal guardian should not receive access to student data, please notify the school immediately. Parents and guardians can see who else has access to their student's data.
SPAN accounts are automatically disabled when a student withdraws from school or when not accessed at least once every 60 days. Disabled accounts are held for 90 days, then deleted.
Email addresses provided to WCPSS as part of the SPAN registration process will not be shared with anyone outside the school system.
Please contact your child's school, which can solve most problems logging into SPAN. Each school has a designated SPAN contact person. If you have a specified email address and lose your password, we can send you a temporary password once you've verified your identity.
