Our schools are committed to reducing barriers that present unique challenges to the educational success of students of Military Families.

School board policy

Under Board Policy 6201.3: Entitlement to Admission, a student is legally entitled to be enrolled in the Wake County Public School System if the student resides with an adult who is a domiciliary of Wake County as a result of the student’s parent or legal guardian being on active military duty and is deployed out of the local school administrative unit in which the student resides.

Lawful Absences related to deployment activities. A student whose parent or legal guardian is an active duty member of the uniformed services and has been called to duty for, is on leave from, or immediately returned from deployment to a combat zone....

Parents, contact your child's school to identify and communicate with their school counselor and school social worker to:

• assist in identifying area resources and support
• connect to military and veteran supports and services
• encourage and support your child academically and socially
• assist in addressing registration and educational access issues
• support you and your student concerning the impact of deployment related issues
