Many of our schools offer safe and stimulating before- and after-school programs, through the schools themselves or third-party providers. Contact your school to learn what's available.
Students must be five years old on or before August 31 of the current school year to enroll in the program. Most before-school programs begin at 7 a.m. After-school programs end at 6 p.m.
WCPSS-provided programs: Your school will have student enrollment forms, parent information sheets and payment schedules based on its bell schedule.
There are separate $15, non-refundable registration fees in the before- and after-school programs. Fees are based on a $2.75 per hour rate in 15-minute increments and apply to all children in a family.
If a payment is not made by the late date on your school's payment schedule, a reminder notice will be sent and a $10 fee will be charged. If payment is not made within five business days of the late date, the student shall be withdrawn from the program.
Non-sufficient fund checks are held until a money order is received by the program to cover the check amount. Cash cannot be accepted. Parents will have ten school days to pay a $10 charge for the check before the child is withdrawn from the program. Once a non-sufficient fund check is returned to the program, parents are required to make all future payments by money order or certified check.
Late pick-up fees are $5 per 15 minutes after 6 p.m. and $10 per 15 minutes after 6:30 p.m. Excessive late pick-ups may result in the principal ending your child's participation in the program.
Third-party programs: Please contact the school directly for information about programs offered by outside agencies. These programs may be offered at the school or off-site.
After school: If school closes early due to inclement weather, the After School program will not operate. Parents are to pick up their children as soon as possible.
Before school: The before-school program will be delayed by the same amount of time that the opening of school is delayed. If school is delayed one hour, the before-school program will open an hour late as well.
If Wake County cancels school due to inclement weather, the Before and After School Programs will not operate. The programs will operate on the make-up day(s) designated by the Board of Education.
