School Construction Report

Goal 2008: WCPSS is committed to academic excellence. By 2008, 95 percent of students in grades 3 through 12 will be at or above grade level as measured by the State of North Carolina End-of-Grade or Course tests, and all student groups will demonstrate high growth.

BOARD APPROVES BIDS FOR CARROLL MODULAR CLASSROOM UNITS
At its June 21 meeting, the Board of Education awarded a single-prime contract to C. Blake Lewis in the amount of $222,142 for the site set-up of two leased eight-classroom modular units at Carroll Middle. Theses units will be used for swing space during the Carroll Middle renovation. The project will be funded from the PLAN 2004 School Building Program.

BOARD APPROVES SCOPE MODIFICATIONS FOR EAST WAKE ADDITION
At its June 7 meeting, the Board of Education approved modifications to the scope of the addition and renovations to the PLAN 2004 East Wake High School project to accommodate the four small schools concept. The board agreed with staff recommendations to proceed with a new auditorium and renovations to the "Link" administration building and defer improvements to the site and the south campus classrooms to a future bond program. The project will be funded from PLAN 2000 School Building Program, and the PLAN 2004 School Building Program.

BOARD APPROVES SITE FOR M5 MIDDLE SCHOOL
At its June 7 meeting, the Board of Education approved locating the new Wendell area middle school (M5) at the Highway 97 property where the temporary modular school campus for Wakelon Elementary will open this fall. The proposed middle school will be included in the school system's next school construction program.

BOARD APPROVES CONSTRUCTION DOCUMENTS FOR WAKE FOREST-ROLESVILLE HIGH
At its June 7 meeting, the Board of Education approved the construction documents for the Wake Forest-Rolesville High School Career Technical Education Building. The project will be funded from the PLAN 2004 School building Program.
