Sparks and Pettiford elected to American School Counselor Association Board
December 22, 2005 - In October of 2006, Eric Sparks will take the position of president elect of ASCA. Sparks is a former high school counselor and now WCPSS Director of School Counseling, where he works with approximately 275 school counselors. As an advocate for school counselors, Sparks has provided district-wide implementation of the ASCA National Model. He has trained all levels of school teams and has presented the ASCA National Model to state legislators and school board members. Sparks has also served the school counseling profession as Supervisor/Post-Secondary Vice President for ASCA and was a former President of the North Carolina School Counselor Association (NCSCA.)Marrius Pettiford won the position of Southern Regional Vice President and will also take his position in October of 2006. Pettiford has been a school counselor for 14 years and currently is the Dean of Student Services at Southeast Raleigh High. Pettiford is a true believer in professional development, advocacy, and data-driven decision making for professional school counselors. He has held numerous positions with the NCSCA and currently serves as past president.

Services is President Elect of NCSCA, and

Services holds ASCA's Supervisor of the Year award.
