The Magic Window
J.P. Stuart

What is it like to lose something important and then get it back? Read to see what Julia lost and the strange way it came back to her.

Just as Julia leaned over to see her reflection in the deep-blue water, her necklace broke, and the white pearl fell and bounced into the ocean. As Julia watched the pearl disappear, she began to cry.

"Why are you crying?" said a voice.

"I've lost my pearl," said Julia.

"Come," said the voice. "Let's look for it together."

Suddenly the waves opened up, and a bubble formed around Julia. It floated her into the ocean.

"Who are you?" asked Julia.

"I am the sea wind," said the voice.

"Why are you helping me?" asked Julia.

"Well," said the voice. "I am the one who accidentally broke your necklace. The least I can can do is help you find the pearl."
