Winners Chosen for the Gifts of Gold Art Exhibit

March 2, 2005 - A panel of judges has selected this year's Gifts of Gold winners from 96 entries for the annual student art show. Each art teacher in Wake County is encouraged to submit one piece of student art for this exceptional show, which serves as the visual arts component of Pieces of Gold, the annual visual and performing arts extravaganza produced by Wake Education Partnership and the Wake County Public School System.

· First Place Elementary: Hunter Elementary - Morgan Harvey- Cindy Pryor, teacher
· First Place Middle School: East Millbrook Middle - Jennifer Delgado - Andrea Croom, teacher
· First Place High School: Broughton High - George Bason - Nancy Carty, teacher
· Second Place Elementary: Timber Drive Elementary - Keith Boyette - Kelly Cook, teacher
· Second Place Middle School: East Millbrook Magnet Middle - Carl Bucknight II - Kathleen Ward, teacher
· Second Place High School: Broughton High - David Coccarelli - Jan Johnston, teacher
· Third Place Elementary: Farmington Woods Elementary - Kirsten von Allmen - Anne Kratzer, teacher
· Third Place Middle School: Davis Drive Middle - Deirdre O'Conner - Wanda K. Johnson, teacher
· Third Place High School: Enloe Magnet High - Cam Floyd - Ray Puckett, teacher
· 3-D Art Award: Wake Forest Rolesville High - Jed Butterfield - Beth Huffman, teacher
· North Carolina Symphony Award: Fuquay-Varina High - Sarah Pauley - Paula H. Hansen, teacher. This award winner will have the opportunity to design the cover for the N.C Symphony school materials for the upcoming season.

Student artwork will be featured in the lobby of Memorial Auditorium on March 8-9, and student artists will be honored at a reception on March 8 from 4-6 p.m. Images of the winning artwork and a complete list of student participants, along with information about the Pieces of Gold performance, can be found at www.WakeEdPartnership.org.
