Enloe Students Prepare for Exchange Trip to China

October 14, 2004 - For three weeks this fall, two Enloe faculty members and nine Enloe students will visit China on a trip sponsored by AFS Intercultural Programs/USA. In return, Enloe families will host a group of Chinese students next spring as part of the program.

Joyce Nelson, English teacher and Susan Mastro, IB Diploma Programme Coordinator, have worked closely with the team of Enloe students as they study China, especial the province of Shandung, where they will be staying with host families. The Enloe students will attend Shandung's No. 1 Middle School of Jiaonan, and tour the immediate area to learn as much as they can about the educational system and country.

Part of the Enloe students's mission will be to share their experiences with the rest of the school when they return. The goals of the AFS Intercultural Program include fostering long term relationships between the sister schools and their larger communities so that all learn about each other's history, culture, geography, politics, and people to better appreciate and celebrate both commonalities and differences; (AFS U.S.-China Discovery Initiative). These goals are in line with Enloe's mission as well as the mission of the International Baccalaureate Programme.
