Parents Can Learn More about Magnet Schools at Open House
November 8, 2011 - Parents can learn more about Wake County magnet schools by visiting the schools during open house opportunities starting this week.
At a magnet school open house, parents will have the chance to meet school leaders, meet teachers, see the results of student work and see the magnet program theme in action. They can get answers to questions they have about what makes that school special.
You can visit the school system website to determine magnet schools available in your community. Click on preview school choices.
If you are enrolling children to start in kindergarten or are new to the system and plan to enroll your child for the 2012-13 school year, you can begin the pre-enrollment process on Nov. 28. If you are interested in magnet schools, you need to pre-enroll in order to participate in the magnet selection process Dec. 5-19.

Magnet elementary schools will hold open house on Thursday, Nov. 10. There will be two sessions. One at 10 a.m. and another at 12:30 p.m.
Magnet middle schools will hold open house on Tuesday, Nov. 15. There will be two sessions. One at 9 a.m. and another at 12 p.m. (Moore Square Magnet Middle will not host an open house Nov. 15, but will host an open house on Tuesday, Dec. 6. The school will have sessions at 9 a.m. and 12 p.m.)
The Wake Young Men’s Leadership Academy and Wake Young Women’s Leadership Academy will hold open houses for families with rising sixth- and seventh-grade students at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 17 in Room 1400 of the Crossroads II Building at 110 Corning Road in Cary.
